back to the chevrons

There are quite a few tops that need to be quilted around here before I can start another project.
One of them is this Chevron / ZigZag that I started last year.
This quilt is for my ex hubby....yes, we're still friends....
yes, current hubby knows and is okay with it.
Anyway.....Hubby 1, the ex, has a thing for Chevrolet and red, grey, and black.
So I came up with this design.
I am sure it has been done before but I didn't have a pattern so I just noodled it out.

after auditioning several reds, blacks and greys

I cut them into strips  and

kept arranging and rearranging until I found the sequence I liked.

I cut the sewn strips using a 45 degree ruler
Then I played with a few different lay outs

edited to add :   do not cut your angled strips until you are ready to sew them together
The bias edges are very very stretchy and too much fiddling may cause them to ...well....stretch

until I decided on this one

I think it turned out well

except for that one grey that seems to want to look dark in the photos.
It's really lighter than that in real life .

I am going to quilt it with straight stitching to emphasize the ripple afghan look

Thanks for stopping by
