I love how our lives are woven together.

I'd Rather Be....

I really tried to keep up with Art Every Day Month.
But I was forced back into Life Every Day.
I'd rather be...
creating something...
anything...
a drawing,
a painting,
a quilt,
a pie...
a zentangle....
anything !

But instead I did this......

reorganized master bedroom closet
acupuncture appointment for Dutch
grooming appointment for Dutch
washed windows...all of them...inside and out
reorganized fabric stash
cleaned out pantry
bought a new van for the dogs
big fight with hubby
made up with hubby
planted more spring bulbs
blew the leaves out of the yard and into the woods
cleaned out all the bird feeders and filled them
fell off a ladder...but I didn't get hurt
restocked the squirrel feeders
and then.......
I LOST MY FAVORITE CAMERA !    aaarrrggghhhhhhhhhhh
not that I had time to take any pictures anyway....
So I'll share this photo of a sunset I did manage to download off my "other" camera.

I'll be able to play tomorrow

AEDM day 5... another day, another zentangle

One more zentangle and a link to the Zentangle website.

But be warned.....it is very addicting.

I will tangle outside the strings ! AEDM day 4

I started following Creative Every Day and I am participating in Art Every Day Month. Everyday for the entire month of November I will post a finished piece of Art or something very close to finished. Since I have All that stuff in my studio basement it shouldn't be that hard right?   WRONG !

Yesterday I took an official Zentangle Class taught by a Certified Zentangle Instructor. She was fantastic.
But the zentangles I did today are not makin' me happy.   And I think I know why...

Remember when I posted about the zentangles I made in October? The ones I made after buying a kit and scouring the Internet? Here's a link to that post...click here    thank you    ..but come right back...

Ok now here's what I did  in class.

Not as good as the stuff I did on my own.
The problem is this

1.... I do not do well in a classroom setting
2.... She gave us the "rules"......   Aaack  !

Rules !    I can't be creative if you give me rules!
I mean ...ok I can stick to the size....and I can stick to black and white....But I don't think I can adhere to ALL the rules.  Like using only approved "tangles" ( designs...doodles ) And shading.  I don't like the shading because when you touch it it smears and smudges.

I protest....I just can't do it..

So from now on My Zentangles will not be true Zentangles...They will be known as Zentangle Inspired Art.

Sheeesh.....

I color out side the lines !
I will tangle outside the strings !

Rules can be Ruff...There are no rules in Art

Restless AEDM day3

There has been a flurry of activity around here.
So much so that it is starting to interfere with my creative juice.
I have a few non blog things to attend to so for the next few
days I will be posting for Art Every Day Month only.

This little bird has been soldered to a pin with a soldered frame.
This is a gift for a very close friend who is a Gemini.  She doesn't read my blog so it's safe to show you.
The photo inside is actually something I cut out of a piece of junk mail. I have no idea who the artist is. But I do know who the artist isn't.  It isn't me. I just did the soldereing.
And yes I wanted it to look lumpy...like a twig.
Then I painted the solder with a bronze paint pen and rubbed most of it back off.
This piece is 1.5 inches square.

Thanks for stopping by.

dusting off some rubber stamps

Just a quick note to show you what I've been up to.....
yes in addition to the stuff over on my home blog..... here

I've joined Creative Lenna's Mail Art Swap. This is a perfect reason to use some rubber stamps that have not seen daylight in several years.  This is why I save every single stamp I have ever bought....you never know when they will come in handy.
This is the back of the envelope..... I have no idea why I didn't take a photo of the front.

hey Leslie ....look some of it's crooked !

i love this saying!

Well that's it for today. I hope you all have a sunny sky where you are. I have to go out and blow the leaves. Mother Nature is is telling me that Winter will be here sooner than we expect.
Have a great Day !
Marianne

Are you creative every day?

It's Art every Day Month over at Creative Every Day.  Since I am participating in so many swaps and challenges and the holidays are around the corner, I am sure I can keep up with this challenge too.    Click here to find out more about this and perhaps you'll sign up too.

So for this very first day of November I'd like to show you my new addiction.  On October 1st I wandered into Queen's Ink in Savage Mill, MD .  I wander there quite a bit.  On this particular day I spotted a little green box.

My curiosity was peaked so I opened the box.  oh boy !   Zentangle !   I have heard about this. I even joked about this.  It's doodling.  I doodled as a child. No ....wait.... I think I was born doodling....no wait....I am pretty sure I doodled something on the walls of my mothers womb.     I know I doodled in my baby food. My mother told me I was a messy child.       I don't think I was messy at all....I was creative.  Perhaps I was creating a mess...I still do that today.  I can create messes all over the house....but I digress.

Anyway back to Zentangle.

When I went to the Art on a Limb retreat late Sept. I had met a gal who is an instructor of the Art of Zentangle. And if that weren't enough several folks online had Zentangle blogs, and I kept blurffing right into them........ So this Zentangle thing was following me........ I had to give in........ I bought the little green box and an extra pack of Zentangle tiles....the little cards you doodle on.        Yes, I know you can doodle anywhere...     but why not get the cards?      why not?

the little green box

oooh....look at all the neat stuff inside

So home I went, excited to open the box and dig in.   After reading the cute little instruction book I picked up my cute little green pencil and micron pen and did this:

my first Zentangle

lookie !   the tiles are so cute ! this is the back of a tile....a place to sign and date it....

a close up...ooooohhh

Uh oh....I was hooked.   Within 5 days I did this:

I would work on these every time I got stuck while working on the quilt in my previous post. And YES !  The Zentangle worked.  They calmed me.....centered me.....helped me get through the day.....I guess I could have bought a few bottles of wine ..... but it wouldn't have been as much fun.

I will be posting more Zentangles in the near future but they will be on my PaperPlay @ RuffHaven blog......because it's on paper.....right?

Oh and I signed up to take a class with Diane, the Zentangle instructor I met at the retreat....she lives within driving distance..... Oh the fun we will have !

Life can be Ruff....get your zen on.
