Breathe - #7 ... a zentangle challenge

I mentioned the other day that I found  the Diva   and her zentangle challenge.
This weeks challenge is to be conscious of my breathing while tangling. I do tend to hold my breath because it helps me have a steadier hand. This challenge was  HARD
This tangle started out ok....but toward the end I became restless.
My contribution to  week #7 - Breathe
I did use the tangle In and Out in this and in one instance I actually skipped a breath. Hello to all of the other challenge participants...I have been watching you all work and I love your art.

One World One Heart 2011

hi  !
I am so happy to be participating in One World One Heart this year. I have admired the many bloggers who have made One World One Heart the most wonderful event of the year. Where bloggers around the world meet and greet, share a smile, make new connections...and give a gift.
What I great idea!
Lisa, the Whimsical Bohemian, is the amazing hostess of One World One Heart.
If you have not heard of this, be sure to follow the link (above and below ) to learn more about it.
This is the 5th and final year. So lets have fun while it's here.

since this hop is all about meeting each other,
part of the plan is to tell you a little bit about myself

I am an Artist, Crafter, Quilter, Dog Lover, Gypsy
On any given day you will find me making something
(or shopping for stuff to make something)
I love to work with paper, fabric, metal, clay, beads.... well ....everything
I have painted, stitched, photographed, sculpted, drawn, beaded, drilled, hammered, altered, woven, soldered, stamped, pressed, bound, molded, felted, knotted, distressed, restored, recycled ...
I have a "lets try this and see what happens" philosophy....usually allowing the piece to develop as I go along.

I have been blogging since spring of 2010 but I am just now finding my voice and becoming relaxed enough to actually share my work. I still have a bit of difficulty with this but I am working on it.The blog friends I have made so far are helping me break out of my shell without even knowing it. I am so grateful for that.

I run a small private Sanctuary  for old dogs
I don't wear shoes whenever possible
my favorite drink is water
I am a night owl as well as an early bird
I live in the woods
the glass is half full. I take a nap everyday
I am not afraid of snakes or spiders.
I cried when Pluto was told it could not be a planet anymore.
I am a gemini ... no matter what "they" say
my husband is not my soul mate... but..... my husband is the best man for the job
some day I will tell you about my soul mate
Sean Connery could be my soul mate ...but he isn't (( just sayin' )).
I would rather buy art supplies than anything else
I cook for my dogs
I travel light
I collect
rubber stamps, coffee mugs, santas,  owls
I hoard
 lace, fabric, pape,r ribbon, books
I love
my home, old dogs, and puppies too, trees, sunsets,
red, words, old furniture, holidays, all seasons,
log cabins in the mountains, stars, cottages, beaches

For this  One World One Heart event I am happy to offer

Azura
the
 WinterMoonDancer

Azura is dressed in a blue, green and yellow knotted dress with a beaded skirt.
She lives on a fused fabric beach, which is actually a small wall hanging.
She has a pin on the back of her dress so she can go with you where ever you go.
She also has a loop in her hair so she can hang as an ornament.

revisiting the inchie

A few weeks ago I mentioned how I had never made an inchie. Then I made one for a christmas card.
Well it seems the darn thing got under my skin and seeped into my blood. So this past week I have been making inchies. Most of them....well all of them were not good enough to show you.

But today I got out my little zentangle kit and made this

now for the full view

that's on a regulation 3.5" zentangle tile

Yay !

it's so cute
it's a wee bit bigger than an inch
but that's because I had to go outside the lines
I just had to
sometimes I make me so happy

Have a great day!

sweet tweet

Since I am on vacation, I have a limited amount of supplies with me and I am trying so hard to not run out to gather more, So I am forced to work with what I have on hand.
I have been working on a collage
and as "they" say

a picture is worth a thousand words

I am going to spare you from reading 1000 words

( yes that's a cheepo household paint brush....I told you I have no supplies here )

I might come back to this....but for now it's finished

I have linked this post to a beach cottage and good life wednesday

inspired by a bird...

It all started when I was having lunch. It was a sunny day.
A bird sang the most beautiful song.
Then later that day I was cleaning out a closet and I found a gift bag with a bird on it
Well it didn't take long for this to happen

I really should be working on a journal quilt for a swap.
But you know how it is when an idea strikes.
So this is my workspace today.
I'm cutting up paper and layering and painting and layering
I have no idea where I'm going with it
but I'll let you know when we get there.

This is my second week linking up to Julia and WOYWW and as many of you had said
It is a bit addicting. I had so much fun looking at everyones work spaces. I am still trying to leave comments on all the blogs....but ....well....a girls gotta eat.
I am also linking up to Good Life Wednesday
because being able to crate a collage while on vacation = a good life

now off you go to peek in on all the other bloggers who linked up this week

sing a happy tune

This lovely bird was kind enough to sing a song for me while I ate my lunch out by the pool.
How could I not be in a good mood after that?
When I go home I am going to pull together a pile of things....
I love my followers and I think its time for this blogs first giveaway

Stay tuned

JB 04 Pink and Green

Well it wouldn't be a challenge if it were easy now would it ?  As you know I am participating in Jingle Belles Rock challenge blog where we are given the task to create a Christmas card based on a new theme each week.  This week is a color challenge----- Dark Pink, Light Pink, and Lime Green.
huff   ....   not my colors at all

So I posted a comment saying I would bow out this week.

Well then I went to a Quilt Show and bought some batik fabric.....I brought it home and lookie !

I see pink and green !
So after tearing the house apart in search of other things to use in the card
 I found:
a green napkin
white ribbon
a pack of markers...including a few pink ones
I came up with this :

napkin + glue = green paper

ribbon, fabric + piece of shell = embellishment

Stamp ....MusicTree by Paper Bag Studio
Ink... Pallette

I really must stop whining when each new challenge is posted.

Have a great day !

my fist WOYWW

I think this is my first entry to wwwoyw...woyow...ooowy...woyww That's it!     woyww. ( what's on your workdesk wednesday blog party )  At least I am pretty sure it is my first ....I don't remember.

While in my home away from home I craft on the dinette table. Sometimes I put two leaves in to make it really big....but I am trying to be good this time and only work on small projects like cards etc...

and since I am the only human here.....I don't have to clean up.  This is what's left over from the cards I made the other day with a bit of stuff I am working on now. You have no idea how hard it was for me to not straighten things up before I took this pic.

white sand, full moon, and ....tucker?

Last night after walking Shadie and Goldie. I went back to the beach. Here it is "against the law" to be out on the beach at night. But I took my chances. The full moon was calling me to come out and dig my toes into the white sugar sand. Being on the beach at night under the gentle glow of the moon my mind began to wander. Not to memories of romantic nights when my husband and I first started to visit this beach, not to dreaming of the future and what it may hold for me. No my mind wandered home...my mind wandered to thoughts of Tucker.

When we started the sanctuary we decided to take in old dogs and dogs with special needs. We already had several dogs that fit that mold. and old dogs make my heart melt when they are homeless. Old dogs should never be homeless. But that's a story for another post. This post is about Tucker.

Tucker is not an old dog. But he crept into my heart when he was 8 weeks old and mangy, losing his hair and skin in such horrible condition that he scratched furiously til he bled. He was indeed a dog with special needs.

With the help of our vet we nursed him back to health and today he is a fine young dog. And the only special need he has now is the need to be with us.

This morning when I read about A Beach Cottages'  Good Life Wednesday I thought about what I could share that portrayed a good life.
My thoughts went back to the full moon, the white sugar sand, Tucker, RuffHaven..... a very good life.
A good life becomes even better in the company of dogs....(and cats too....)

Enjoy  your good life!
