The Dog Days of Summer

Family vacations, obligations, destinations keep bloggers away from their readers.
I see more and more apologies for being absent.
 it's summer - time
Relax !
Kick back
Have a tall cool drink

with scorching temperatures
long humid nights and
lazy afternoons

lucky to have my camera nearby to get this shot.

the
Dog Days of Summer are upon us.
This time of year is an in-between time.
It doesn't seem to have its own Spirit
It's vacation time yes....but there is a lull in the action.
Time slows down
So to fill the void
we have

Back to School sales
( who really wants to think about school? )

Christmas in July sales
!!!!
 ( I have to admit I love these )
I had wanted to call this a Christmas in July giveaway
but that would take all the fun out of the giveaway I have planned for December.

So with out any further blathering

lets get to the giving part

announcing
RuffHaven's
Dog Days of Summer Giveaway

It's hot outside and you have lemonade to make
So I will make this short and sweet.
 one lucky reader will receive,

red

a Canon Power Shot digital elph 300 HS

I received this camera as a gift for my birthday and has luck would have it I received two.

 (  sheeesh...they never listen...why do they ask  )

So here it is... brand new...in the box ...with all the accessories
see:

So
Would you like to own this camera?

I'd love to give it to each of you
I would love to
gather you together as a group
and like a new bride toss it over my shoulder like a bouquet

but
I can't

so the next best  way to GIVE this to you fairly would be to simply ask.

My thoughts on blog giveaways:
Ever since I held my first giveaway I was hooked. I love giving stuff away.
I love my readers.
So whats wrong with giving some good stuff to my readers?
With all the blogs out there you choose to read mine.
That means a lot to me.
We share ideas, art, techniques, ups and downs.
We share life's adventures, stories of our families, our babies and our pets.
We ARE  a family of sorts and families give each other gifts.
We give our time, our words and our souls to our readers.
All of these have value....

more value then and material item can equal

We give of ourselves everyday in ways that are hard to understand unless....
you are one of us.

The rest of the world might not ever "get it".

 Bloggers "get it"

Friends have each others backs

if you miss this giveaway...there will be another

I have planned a series of  6 giveaways to take place between now and the end of the year.
Each giveaway will
Celebrate the Seasons,  theGenerosity of Bloggers
and theSpirit of Giving

YAY! Love the re-write. :) Stoopid rulez. Okay, I didn't miss anything because I always have a camera with me, even if it IS the crappy phone camera. If I win this, I would leave it in my car to have when I only have my crappy phone camera. ;/

That is an extremely generous giveaway, and I appeciate the offer. I'm so so sorry to hear that you were treated unkindly

CarlaKH said...

What a generous offer...but since you are dog person that's understandable! My Holly is a rescue puggy and I help out with the pug rescue when I can .. my dogs are my best friends and family. if it weren't for my husband, my house would be much more filled with dogs - but we treasure the two we have now.
at any rate, that camera would be perfect to take to the dog park!

So, the shot I have missed is the fun ones at the dog park :)

Off to check out your blogs!

There she goes again! This is one terrific lady people! If there's a will....there's a way! We should all learn from this.

You are too sweet! This is a wonderfully thoughtful give-a-way!
So nice to see you back again!
I usually have my camera handy but there's always one that gets away.
And that's when it's in charging, almost always :)
Your pic of the lazy dogs is cute!
Stay cool..looks like we have a bit to go yet.

You have some beautiful dogs.
The one shot that comes to mind that I missed was when my youngest granddaughter took her first steps.
Thank U 4 this opportunity to wonderful giveaway

When my eldest boy was four, he caught a peep frog. He didn't want it to get away, but he wanted to see it...so he kept his eye up to a little crack between his chubby cupped hands...

I don't need a camera to see that in my mind, but it would be nice to have had the photo to share with him when he grew up.

Oooo red is my fav color (just look at my car and my purse and...)
The shots I miss are when my big dog plays with the little cat - they're so cute and don't hurt each other ... well, if the cat gets tired of playing he does slap the dog a little ... Anyway, I'd love to replace my ancient camera with this! Thanks for the chance!

wow I hope I win. I have a camera but my sons broke and I wish I had the extra money to buy him a new one. Hmmmmm I wish I had a camera the day my hubby was giving our 2year old a bath. I walked down the hall by the bath room and our dog was just as wet and bubbaly as Julie! Suds everywhere! I just laughed and kept on going. So Julie, Kaiser, and the floor were spotless with only one bath!

I was going to tell you how I had no camera when the tyrannosaurus rex came out of the biker bar and started singing "Dirty Deeds (Done Dirt Cheap)" while doing a fairly competent soft-shoe. But you know what? I read the comments before mine, and I just got all teary over some of them. WTF? Give the camera to someone else.

I appreciate how hard you have been trying just to give something away to someone. And I love Penny's little dogface.

What an awesome giveaway. I never miss a shot because I always have my iPhone - would love to have a better choice.

flyingbeader said...

Indeed it is definitely the Dog Days. How wonderful of you to share your bounty with you blog readers. Me..I never have a camera when my three Scotties do something entertaining. The one time I truly wish I had a camera with me was when I was out in Washington state coming down Mt Rainer on our way to Cougar. A COUGAR stepped out onto the road and just stood looking at our car. We stopped and marveled at the beauty of this animal. It must have lasted 5 minutes before it got bored & bound off.

What a fantastic give away! Although I have a camera of my own, I'm a third grade teacher, and I don't ever have my camera at school. I would LOVE to have a camera to keep at school in my desk to capture all the moments of discovery and exploration that happen in my class. Every year for the end of the year, I make a presentation or movie with a collection of all the photographs from the year, but they're mostly all field trip pictures. This camera could certainly go a long way in my class!

Thanks for the chance to win! :)

This is so generous of you!
There is one moment in particular wanting to have a camera. It was winter, and I was stopped at a light when a beater pulls up next to me. I look over and see that the passenger window is completely gone, with only a thing sheet of clear plastic covering it up. The man in the seat is leaning out the window while waving a lighter around the plastic's edges, I can only presume to create some sort of seal between the sheet and the door. An odd scene indeed.

Wow - what a wonderful giveaway. We just had our favorite dog Mandy visit last week and after dinner my staff person was relaxing in front of the TV. Mandy was sleeping on her blanket and Scooter was sleeping close by, but the human didn't realize it until she saw Scooter's arm reach out and her little paw touched Mandy's paw! So cute!

I took my two nephews who were 3 and 4 at the time (not too long ago as they are 5 and 6 now), downtown. We made a day of it. We went b train into the city and then a water taxi took us to the pier and we went on the Ferris wheel at the pier. I wish I had a camera becasue I tried to explain to my sister (their mother) how excited they had been all day during these adventures.

thank you for the giveaway!

About a week ago my boyfriend and I were driving home and right near his house we saw a mother duck and her babies all walking in a perfectly straight line across the street. It was the cutest thing I have ever seen and we had no idea why they were there. I have a really old phone so the camera part is really dark and I don't have the internet on my phone either. I could really use this camera for my first cruise trip in August. thank you!

What an extremely generous giveaway! We adopted a chesapeake in April, his name is Charlie. He smiles when he is happy. When I come home from work he greets me at the door and he lifts his lips and wrinkles his nose and smiles. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to be able to take a picture of that but my digital camera broke last winter and we haven't been able to replace it. This would be a dream to win. Thanks so much for the chance.

Unfortunately, we've missed a LOT of moments because we have no camera at all right now. Yet we have more great moments to shoot now more than ever, because we just moved to the beautiful Oregon coast...full of some of the most gorgeous beaches and scenery ever. More than that, however, it would be great to win this because I would take TONS of pictures of my three toddlers that are aged 3, 2, and 1! Capturing all those little moments as they grow up would be fantastic.

Such a coincidence, today itself I was wishing that I had a camera with me. It is raining here in Mumbai, India. It is our three month long monsoon season. There was a huge puddle in front of our railway station, which is also a UNESCO world heritage site. The beautiful gothic style building was reflected in this puddle, but above all, two school kids wearing bright red gum boots, were jumping in glee, in and out of this very puddle. I wish I could have snapped this joy!

Marianne, you are one of the most generous bloggers I know.
Now, I seldom miss a shot because I almost always carry some kind of camera with me. However, I love the Canon Powershot (and I don't own one) and I especially love the red ones since you can easily locate them - well, and I simply love the color red. You can attach the Canon Powershot to a spotting scope easily - I should have had that when I "shot" the owls.
